Sintered NdFeB magnets are manufactured using two forms of pressing.  In both forms, fine NdFeB powder is compacted in a die and then sintered, fusing the powder into a solid material.  In Die Pressing, the powder is placed into a hard die and then pressed [either in the direction of orientation, or transverse to the direction of orientation.  In Isostatic Pressing the powder is placed into a special "rubber" die and then pressed with equal force in all directions on the powder.  Die pressing is generally used for making smaller parts; isostatic pressing for larger parts.  Although the magnetic properties of isostatically pressed parts are higher, the uniformity of magnetic characteristics is usually lower than that of die pressed parts.  Sintered parts normally need some finish machining in order to hold tight dimensional tolerances.
